Laura is an award-winning semi-professional photographer, based in the market town of Calne in rural Wiltshire, on the edge of the North Wessex Downs Area of Natural Beauty.
Shortlisted for the prestigious Amateur Photographer of the Year and featured in both Amateur Photographer magazine (July 2023) and Digital Photographer magazine (2022), Laura has had an interest in photography for a few years and particularly enjoys landscape, travel and wildlife photography. Always keen to develop her skills, Laura also enjoys family and pet portraiture. In the last year, Laura has ventured into drone photography and loves the different perspective that it gives. Laura has completed training and is registered with the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority). In addition, Laura holds registration as a drone operator within the European Union, and is insured commercially for her drone photography.
Laura is a proud member of the Royal Photographic Society and The Guild of Photographers; having a number of images that have been awarded a bronze award from the Guild of Photographers Image of the Month competition. In June 2023, Laura was awarded a silver award by The Guild of Photographers for one of her shots of the RAF Red Arrows display team at the Weston Air Show 2022. The image was chosen by One Vision Imaging as their Image of the Week in September 2023.
Originally from Swansea, South Wales, Laura moved to Wiltshire in 2019, and it was photography that helped her to get to know the beautiful countryside around her new home. Laura works part-time as a languages teacher at a local secondary school but can regularly be seen at local markets and trade fairs, where she sells a variety of cards, prints, gifts, calendars and jigsaws.
For the last two years, Laura has produced a Calne Calendar, printed by the sister company of Great British Jigsaws, the Calendar Company. Over £250 has been raised through the calendar sales for the local food bank, and Laura is already busy planning next year’s calendar design. Laura is looking forward to adding more designs to her products which showcase the beauty of Wiltshire and further afield.
